Aaron & Natelie’s wedding at Lake Lucille Lodge

November 24th, 2009

We’ll get back to seniors soon. I promise!

But first, I want to take us back a couple months to a very awesome wedding I had the privilege of photographing. Natelie is a pillar in my studio who I could not do with out. Her sarcasm has me in stitches daily, she has an uncanny ability to understand what I need before I ask, and she can read between the lines and figure out what needs to be done before it needs doing. In short, Nat is one of the very special people in my studio who make my job easier and I don’t want to think about going to work every day with out her there.

Natelie is the second employee who’s wedding was planned and executed while working here (the first was Melanie, who met, dated, got engaged and then married all while under my watch!). I have to say this really makes us experts on the whole wedding planning thing, and I encourage ALL of our ‘Picture Lady brides to use and abuse our expertise and opinions. Believe me, we have them!

This blog entry is going to be picture intense. But hey, it’s Natelie, and she deserves every bit of it!

I love you girl, and I’m so happy to have found you when I did. You make me smile every. single. day.

*And Aaron, you’re awesome too! I see Nat’s love for you in her eyes and I know you make her so happy!

Jennifer & Frasier’s wedding in Wasilla, Alaska

October 6th, 2008

Another little break from seniors to blog about a recent wedding. I know, it seems like ALL I’m blogging about are seniors and weddings. Crazy! I promise to have some personal stuff coming up in the next week or so, keep your eyes open gang. :)

Now let’s talk a little bit about the AWESOME wedding of Jennifer and Frasier! These two are the sweetest couple. When I first saw Jennifer in her gown, I could not get over how perfectly “bridal” she looked. If I ever had an image in my mind of what a beautiful, young, bride should look like, it would definitely be Jennifer.
These two were married at Wasilla Bible Church in Wasilla, Alaska. This church is one of my favorite churches in the state to work in. I just love the light I get and the big, white, room the ceremonies are held in, just perfect! Plus, I love when when the brides, like Jennifer, get ready in one of the youth rooms. It gives me so much “extra” to work with in the images. So fun!
The reception was held at Lake Lucille which always has beautiful views for us.
Frasier and Jennifer’s day did not start out very pretty. Rain poured all morning and afternoon. Of course Jennifer and Frasier were not the least bit disappointed in the weather. Their excitement and joy about getting married could not be dampened by ANY weather! Still though, we were all beside ourselves with happiness when the weather cleared up in the early evening, giving us a chance to shoot some really sweet portraits outside in that beautiful, late Alaska summer sunlight. So lovely!
This day was also special to me because so many of my clients were in attendance at this wedding! You know, it’s funny how life works, isn’t it? Being a 3rd generation Alaskan, it’s not often I can go somewhere in this state with out knowing people. Being a business owner as well makes it near impossible! I’ve noticed this more and more at my weddings; I am seeing dear and wonderful clients who have been with me for years. I love catching up with old high school seniors, wedding clients, and even seeing those precious babies as they’ve turned into toddlers and, yes, even school age kids! (how are they growing up so fast??)
I know it sounds cliché, and my clients hear this from me ALL. THE. TIME. But I just don’t know how to say it any other way;
I am truly honored to have such a wonderful group of people who call The Picture Lady “their” photographer. You all brighten my days, even in the busiest and most stressful of seasons (like, uh, my Fall-time rush!).
Jennifer and Frasier’s wedding was the first time I got to work with this awesome couple. But the relationship we formed on that day, I know, we’ll keep them “in the family” for years to come. I am so excited to watch them grow in their marriage to each other. These two are so committed and so in love, I was so happy to share just a bit in their day together!

Breanna & Drew’s wedding at Lake Lucille Inn

August 8th, 2008

I have been looking forward to this wedding for a LONG time!
I photographed Breanna’s twin brother’s wedding a few years ago. I also get to shoot his family portraits (he and his wife have two beautiful babies!).
In addition, Breanna and Drew are part of one of my “wedding circles.” We’ve photographed quite a few of Drew and Breanna’s friends’ weddings! When Breanna came to me to talk about her big day, I knew this wedding was going to be like Old Home Week for me.
Drew and Breanna were married at Lake Lucille in Wasilla, Alaska. And, like most every other day this summer, we were nervous about the weather! The rain held off though, and we were able to enjoy the amazing views off of the lake.
This couple was just so cool! Totally laid back and FUNNY. All the family members were cracking me up with their smart comments and quick one-liners. I laughed a LOT during this wedding, and it felt so GREAT!
Drew and Breanna had a great party. They celebrated their very important day in a fashion that spoke directly toward the kind of awesome, fun, happy, easy-going people they are. I was completely honored to get to share in their day!
Another fun bit about this day: My friend and colleague from Atlanta, Zack Arias, joined me as my second-shooter for this wedding. We had a great time working together and Drew and Breanna definitely got some awesome images as a result!
Congratulations Drew and Breanna. May your laughter and good humor bring you joy all through your years!
