It was a freezing cold afternoon when we bagan our journey into the Pass. The temperature hovered between 0ºF and 10ºF, depending on the location of the sun in relation to the mountain peaks. Standing in the shade during Alaska’s long winter can quickly cost you several degrees of warmth.
This family were troopers and took on the cold like true Alaskan champs! The pay-off for their intrepid nature shows in their images.

Matt and Jennfer visited me with their dog, Timber, for some family portraits. I photographed Matt and Jennifer’s wedding a couple years ago, so I knew how photogenic they can be in front of my camera. And while I’ve met and played with Timber before, I’ve not had the chance to photograph him… until now.
Timber lived up to my expectations! Silly, playful, loving the attention and very expressive, I couldn’t get enough of this guy!

Jason and Megan are building a new house. And they need images to put on the walls of that new home! I was delighted to spend some time with this sweet, young family. We played, ran, laughed and oh yeah, took some pictures as well. Their active little girls kept me in stitches the entire time. I love kids!

Barb and Paul brought their grown-up, twin daughters in recently for a fun shoot on Matanuska River.
We had so much snow to play, er, I mean SHOOT. And while we were starting the session, it began to snow even more! It was a chilly session, but this whole family are troopers (even the dogs!) and we enjoyed the afternoon and racing to finish up before we lost what little natural light we had that day.
May I just say it again? I love my Alaska families who brave the conditions to get such memorable images in our beautiful, Alaska scenery!

I love working with these two little girls. Sisters and best friends, they always give me the best little expressions! They were even more than happy to brave the near 0ºF temps outside to play in the snow during an outstanding pink sunset (don’t we LOVE Alaska?).

I get to see this family every year for pictures. They always come in around the same time so they have plenty of time to get their holiday cards out. Every year I look forward to this group as, every year, these kids get funnier!
This year we headed out to Matanuska River and enjoyed a wonderful late evening sun.
